How decimation is shown it in role my thunder hear me cry

In this essay I am going to be writing about roll my thunder hear my cry. The book was written by a woman called Mildred D. Taylor in 1976,and was set in 1930.The book was set in the time when many Americans had a tough and depressing life, mostly black people. Although slavery ended, the book describes how the people lived and what they went through. The book also tells you about a system that was used when slavery was over, it was called sharecropping. The system worked in a strange and unfairly way, people would pay to work in the landowners farm to live and stay in the landowners house. The family would pay money to stay there but at the same time work for the landowner, all they get out of it is to sleep in a safe place. This was unfair because the people should at least get payed for doing the landowners dirty work instead of the people paying to work for him.

An example of discrimination in the novel is when the all black elementary  school gave the students poor conditioned books passed down by white folks. This  is seined in the book when Little man quoted’ ‘they give us these ole books when they don’t want them no more”. The quote gives an idea of discrimination because the white folks got the books first when the books were in good condition and when the black people got the books it was in poor condition. The black people got the books in poor condition because the white folks are more royal the them.

Another example about discrimination is that the schools are segregated meaning that the schools split up into two races. This was unfair because at the time the white folks were way more royal the  black people  causing rivalry between the two races. Every time the white people would get equipment for school when it is brand new, when the white folks get this equipment they don’t appreciate want they have  and break it but if black people had this present they will treat it in a careful way.

Another example from the book is when Lillian jean pushed Cassie of   the pavement causing him to fall to the ground .He got back up looking angry looking for revenge but in steed he walk out the store, as he went out Lillian jean demanded him to say sorry but looking in her eye he refused. Big ma  in shock  quickly nudged him and anxiously and made him say sorry, Cassie embarrassment   said sorry and walked off in anger.
